Yelp is the go-to platform for making meaningful connections within a local community. It has revolutionized the way people discover and connect with local businesses, and helps consumers make informed decisions about where to eat, shop, relax, and enjoy their communities, while providing businesses with the tools they need to thrive in the digital age.
Within in my time as Community Intern, I gained multifaceted experience, from marketing and event planning to community building.
While wearing my marketer hat, I played a role in overseeing various aspects of social media, which included creating reel content, sourcing content, and creating engaging captions. Outside of social media, I was tasked with writing an occasional blog post, our weekly Local Yelp collections, and copy for PR releases. Event planning included researching local businesses, curating ideas for both events and experiences, as well as following through with execution. Community building included interaction, engagement and messaging with Yelp users both on the site and at in-person events.

Black & Gold Night at Abiaka

Yelp Broward-Palm Beach's distinguished black and gold badged Elite members gathered at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood for a special event. This was a night dedicated to showcasing two exceptional businesses, Oculus Bar and Abiaka, while honoring the remarkable achievements of our long-standing Elite members.

Cleopatra Royal Coffee Experience
July 2023
We kicked off our Travel Like a Local campaign here with Cleopatra Royal Coffee in Fort Lauderdale. Our Yelp Elite members were treated to two menu items of their choosing, while they enjoyed the indoor and outdoor art gallery.

Night Out at PLA Sport Bar

In May we hosted a Community Yelp event with 97 local Yelp users at PLA Sports Bar in Hollywood. They were treated to food, drinks, a live DJ and interactive virtual sports games. The evening included a toast honoring the PLA it Forward foundation, with a for-purchase cocktail to raise money.

Hof's House of Sweets Experience
July 2023
We continued our Travel Like a Local campaign with locally owned & locally loved: Hof’s House of Sweets. This experience offered our Yelp community the chance to try three various flavors of ice cream sundaes in a flight. They were topped off with Yelp sprinkles and Yelp branded, color changing spoons. Travel Like a Local stickers were also gifted to each Yelper.

Elite Event at Sufrat Mediterranean Grill

Our Elite members were invited to Sufrat Mediterranean Grill in Pembroke Pines for a family style feast, hosted by a live DJ, and concluded with a performance from a fire wielding belly dancer. The night was filled with delicious food, fun memories, and friendly customer service by the owners themselves.

Island Rhythms Brunch at 14 North

The best of all things brunch came together at this Elite Event at 14 North in Dania Beach. We celebrated the launch of their new brunch offerings with flowing fruity daiquiris adorned with Yelp umbrellas, an entree of choosing and a live reggae band.
